Bioactive Glass Flakes as Innovative Fillers in Chitosan Membranes for Guided Bone Regeneration

نویسندگان

چکیده

Herein, novel bioactive glass flakes (BGFs) (45S5 composition), obtained by compression in the liquid phase a stirred media mill, are combined with chitosan (CS) to develop composite membranes using solvent casting for guided bone regeneration (GBR). The incorporation of BGFs endows CS superior bioactivity as evidenced rapid hydroxyapatite formation after 3 days immersion simulated body fluid (SBF). Moreover, addition reduces swelling ratio membranes, beneficial GBR applications. behavior can also be modulated tuning added amount BGFs. In vitro cell studies indicate noncytotoxicity toward osteoblast line MC3T3-E1, although presence slightly viability compared pure membranes. improves osteogenic differentiation MC3T3-E1 cells indicated enhanced alkaline phosphatase activity. results show feasibility anisotropic fillers polymeric matrices. conclusion, developed CS-BGF promising potential material GBR.

Chitosan/bioactive glass nanoparticle composite membranes for periodontal regeneration.

Barrier membranes are used in periodontal applications with the aim of supporting periodontal regeneration by physically blocking migration of epithelial cells. The present work proposes a combination of chitosan (CHT) with bioactive glass nanoparticles (BG-NPs) in order to produce a novel guided tissue and bone regeneration membrane, fabricated by solvent casting. The CHT/BG-NP nanocomposite m...

Guided bone regeneration with asymmetric collagen-chitosan membranes containing aspirin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles

Introduction Membranes allowing the sustained release of drugs that can achieve cell adhesion are very promising for guided bone regeneration. Previous studies have suggested that aspirin has the potential to promote bone regeneration. The purpose of this study was to prepare a local drug delivery system with aspirin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (ACS) contained in an asymmetric collagen-chitos...
